Nestled in the enchanting locale of Carmel By-The-Sea, California, The American Art Gallery dates back to its origins as a New York Gallery almost 50 years ago and remains a sanctuary for art lovers and collectors alike. Since opening our Carmel gallery doors in 2000, we have had the honor of representing an extraordinary range of artists, both blue-chip and emerging talents. Our gallery has captured the admiration of esteemed patrons such as Ellen DeGeneres, Joe Walsh, Ringo Starr, and Tony Coles, among others.

Our collection is a rich tapestry of contemporary art that includes original masterpieces across various mediums and styles. Visitors will find a captivating array of abstract paintings, evocative figurative works including nudes, serene landscapes, and thought-provoking still-life pieces. Artists featured in our gallery utilize a diverse range of mediums—from oil on wood and aluminum to mixed media and ink on paper.

At The American Art Gallery, we celebrate art in all its forms. Our collection includes works of Realism, Photorealism, Impressionism, Expressionism, Abstract, Surrealism, Pop Art, and more. We proudly represent both Blue-Chip and emerging artists.

Initiated in 1972 and crystallized through years of dedication, our mission has remained steadfast: "We are committed to showcasing only the finest of art, building the profiles of our artists, and continually searching for groundbreaking talents."

Founded by Alik Elzafon in the 1970s, the gallery had humble beginnings as a one-man operation in New York City. It then metamorphosed into a prominent gallery space in Dallas, Texas, and later had an influential presence in Jerusalem. Today, under the stewardship of Omdev Elzafon—Alik's son—the American Art Gallery proudly represents close to 25 artists.

One unique service we offer is exclusive art curation, both in our upstairs private showroom and through online renderings of clients’ homes. This specialized approach allows us to create tailored art experiences, making the art acquisition process seamless and enjoyable.

Our goal is to make fine art accessible to all—from the seasoned collector to the first-time buyer. We offer a welcoming atmosphere coupled with fine art expertise to ensure that everyone who walks through our doors feels comfortable and inspired.

The gallery is a family-owned venture and has been through its entire history. We take pride in our ability to allow artists to express their individuality and raw artistic power, making us not just a gallery but a home for art and artists.
